GREY EVOLUTION

GREY EVOLUTION

I'm 67 years old and go by Ong Bee Yan (Yan). I am a proud grandmother to 3 gorgeous grandchildren and a mother of two.

My modeling and acting careers were unintentionally launched when, four years ago, a local fashion designer who liked my silver hair asked my husband and me to model for her t-shirt line. As someone who has always been camera-shy, I seized this chance with both hands. I wanted to overcome my fears of being in front of the camera. When I once refused to pose for a family reunion photo, my son reprimanded me. "What's the big deal!?" he yelled.

“Only a picture, that's all!” This remark stayed with me for a very long time.

I used this chance to push myself and get outside of my comfort zone. Why should I doubt myself if the designer trusted me enough to wear her clothes? A few modeling jobs resulted from this. Later, I received an invitation to appear on the front cover of Harpers Bazaar magazine's 20th-anniversary celebration in Singapore, and the rest is history.

I am most passionate about two things. Giving back to society comes first. I donate half of my income to animal welfare organizations, rescues, and other charitable causes.

I don't allow my age to restrict me; rather, I embrace it. I keep up my practice of self-care, which includes taking care of my bodily, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs in order to live a meaningful, dignified, and enriching life and contribute to society. This brings me to my other interest, which is inspiring and motivating older age to push themselves and live fulfilled lives.
